Description:  
scenarios for students to act out with foreign teachers. Each group has a scenario and each student has a character. You the teacher also have a set out character to act out. See my website for a printable version. www.jason-ism.com
   
Objectives:  
Improvisation task to help students be spontaneous in conversation.
   
Duration:
50 minute class/ 10 groups max
   
Procedure:  
Print out, cut out and hand out.
Group 1
Scenario: In this project you are characters and the teacher is also a character who will speak with you. Choose whether you will be student 1, 2 or 3 and do as the instructions say. You are on a tour in a nature park and the teacher is the tour guide and you will ask him/her questions.
Student 1: Because you find this tour to be very boring you will ask the tour guide "why is it important to learn anything about trees because they are only going to be cut down anyway?"
Student 2: You are only interested in trees because cutting them down and selling it will make you a lot of money. You will ask the tour guide (the teacher) "why is it important to keep the trees and not cut them down to make money?"
Student 3: You are very interested with trees so you want to know what type of tree it is and how old it is. You will ask the tour guide all of these questions.
Teacher: You are the tour guide and you will show the students all types of trees then you will ask them questions.

Group 2
Scenario: In this project you are characters and the teacher is also a character who will speak with you. Choose whether you will be student 1, 2 or 3 and do as the instructions say. You are on a farm with cows and the teacher is the farmer who will kill them for food.
Student 1: You believe that cows should not be killed for food and theyhave the right to live a life.
Student 2: You don't care about the cows because they are only stupid animals anyway.
Student 3: You only care about the money you can make from selling the meat of cows and you believe cows have only one purpose in life and that is to be killed for their meat.
Teacher: You are the cattle rancher and you will show them your cows and ask them what they beileve of killing cows for their meat.

Group 3
Scenario: In this project you are characters and the teacher is also a character who will speak with you. Choose whether you will be student 1, 2 or 3 and do as the instructions say. You are on a farm, the teacher is the owner of the farm and you are the workers.
Student 1: You hate working and you are only getting paid a little bit of money so you will say to the farmer "why should I work hard if you are only going to pay me a little bit of money?"
Student 2: You need the money so much that you work very hard and because you work hard you want more money. You will say to the farmer (the teacher) "I work very hard so I should get paid more than the other students."
Student 3: You are not very good at farming but you try your best so you believe the farmer (the teacher) should pay you more money. You will say to him/her "I may not be very good but I try very hard and you should pay me more."
Teacher: You are an angry farmer who hates lazy and clumsy people especially when they are working on your farm. Though hard working people you really love and you are very nice to.

Group 4
Scenario In this project you are characters and the teacher is also a character who will speak with you. Choose whether you will be student 1, 2 or 3 and do as the instructions say. You are at a very famous expensive restaurant because you won a competition and now you're ordering food.
Student 1: You will ask the waiter (the teacher) that you only want the best food and when he/she brings it to you, you will say it is not good enough.
Student 2: You will order soup and when the waiter (the teacher) brings it to you, you will say there is a fly in the soup.
Student 3: You will order food but you won't complain about it instead you will say it is very delicious and you want to know how to make it.
Teacher: You are the waiter/waitress you first take their order and you serve them their food. When you bring the food to them you will ask them how do they like it.

Group 5
Scenario: In this project you are characters and the teacher is also a character who will speak with you. Choose whether you will be student 1, 2 or 3 and do as the instructions say. You are in a pet store and you are wanting to buy a new pet.
Student 1: You prefer to buy the dog because they are very loyal pets and they love being around people.
Student 2: You want to buy the snake because they are unussual animals and not many people own snakes.
Student 3: You want to buy gold fish because you don't need to do a lot to look after them.
Teacher: You are the owner of the pet store and you will ask the students what type of animal do they want to buy.

Group 6
Scenario: In this project you are characters and the teacher is also a character who will speak with you. Choose whether you will be student 1, 2 or 3 and do as the instructions say. You are in a hospital and the teacher is very ill.
Student 1: You will ask the teacher if he/she is going to die and if he/she will leave you some money. You are very poor and the teacher is very rich.
Student 2: You don't want the teacher to die so you will say to him/her you must live because you are in love with him/her.
Student 3: The reason why the teacher is ill is because he/she drank poison so you will ask him/her why he/she wanted to die.
Teacher: You are lying on a hospital bed because you drank some poison and the reason is because you don't want to live anymore.

Group 7
Scenario: In this project you are characters and the teacher is also a character who will speak with you. Choose whether you will be student 1, 2 or 3 and do as the instructions say. You are in an air plane and it is going to crash as you will all die. You will discuss what you wish you could have done with your life.
Student 1: All of your life you had never fallen in love so you wished you could have met someone who you could have married.
Student 2: Because you are so rich your wealth could have been more useful to help people. You wished that you could have given some money to a childrens hospital.
Student 3: You have lived a good life and you did everything in your life that you wanted to do. You believe that there is nothing you would change.
Teacher: You will ask the students what they wished they could have done with their lives and you wished you could have done more things with your life.

Group 8
Scenario: In this project you are characters and the teacher is also a character who will speak with you. Choose whether you will be student 1, 2 or 3 and do as the instructions say. You are working in an office and the boss is always mad with you four. So one of you is going to be fired soon and you are discussing who will it be.
Student 1: You are very frighten of losing your job because you have a family and you need to work. You hope that it won't be you.
Student 2: You hate this job because it is boring and meaningless so it won't be that bad after all. Though you just don't want to experience the shame of losing a job.
Student 3: You believe that the boss will never fire you because you're better than the other workers so you don't have any fear.
Teacher You are the one who informs the other workers about this news and say that one of us will be fired today. You ask the student if they care about losing their jobs or not.

Group 9
Scenario: In this project you are characters and the teacher is also a character who will speak with you. Choose whether you will be student 1, 2 or 3 and do as the instructions say. You are trapped in a very deep hole and you are discussing whether you will survive.
Student 1: You believe that no one will find you and you will die. You will be very frighten as you are very sure you will die.
Student 2: You have some hope and you are very sure that someone will come and find you. You will yell out for help hoping that someone will hear you.
Student 3: You don't care about surviving and you would be happy to die. You don't like your life anyway so you don't try to do anything to be saved.
Teacher: You will ask the students if they believe they will be saved or will you all die in this deep hole.

Group 10
Scenario: In this project you are characters and the teacher is also a character who will speak with you. Choose whether you will be student 1, 2 or 3 and do as the instructions say. You are all chickens living in a farm and the teacher is the farmer. Tonight he/she is very hungry and wants to eat one of you for dinner.
Student 1: You are the rooster which means the male chicken who is in control of the others. You believe that you are too important to be eaten and it should be one of the others.
Student 2: you believe that you are too valuable because you lay the most eggs. without you the farmer can't sell the eggs to make money.
Student 3: You are the oldest chicken and you don't lay many eggs as you use to. You are very frighten that the farmer will eat you tonight.
Teacher: You are the farmer and tonight you want to eat a chicken so you will discuss which one will it be. You need to get them to explain why they shouldn't be eaten.
